Fueling Growth Through Capital Markets

Mr. Rajeeva Bandaranaike is the Chief Executive Officer of the Colombo Stock Exchange. He has served in a senior management capacity at the Stock Exchange in Trading, Clearing and Settlement, Branch Development, Marketing, Human Resources and has led several market development initiatives. Mr. Bandaranaike counts over twenty years at the Colombo Stock Exchange. He has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of two listed companies and counts a total of 25 years’ experience in financial services. Mr. Bandaranaike holds a Degree in Law (LLB) from the Open University of Sri Lanka, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and the Stock Broker Certification from the Securities Institute of Australia.

Dr. Naveen Gunawardane is the Managing Director at LYNEAR Wealth Management. He started his career at Goldman Sachs London and was a Director - Head of Quantitative Services at Amba Research in Sri Lanka. He was also the Head of Investment Banking at Capital Alliance Partners (CAL). Naveen has over 17 years of experience in international capital markets in developing quantitative trading and investment strategies for global fund managers and hedge funds investing in developed, emerging and frontier markets.
Naveen has a BSc and MSc in Physics from Imperial College, London and a PhD in Particle Physics also from Imperial College, London.

Jeevan Gnanam is a mentor and facilitator for entrepreneurial development of ides in Sri Lankan youth. He took the reigns as the Chairman of SLASSCOM earlier this year and was the visionary behind Orion City, which houses some of the world’s leading IT firms like Virtusa, Pearson and WNS. He serves as the Executive Director of the St. Anthony’s Industries Group, one of the largest manufacturing conglomerates in the country. Amongst his portfolio are OrionCity (Premium Offices), S. A. Knowledge Services & SAKS Analytics (BPM/KPM and Data Science focused), Loops (a digital agency), Lanka Angel Network (Angel Investors), Crowd Island (a Crowdfunding platform), Hatch (Coworking spaces) & Digital Realty (Tier 3 Data Center).

Vajira Wijegunawardane is the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC). Prior to assuming responsibilities as Director General in 2015, Vajira led SEC’s Capital Market Development Directorate for eight years actioning a development and reform agenda focused on sustainable growth and broad visibility for the Sri Lankan capital market.

Under his leadership, the SEC Secretariat drives regulatory and capital market development initiatives which more closely align the capital market with national economic aspirations. These include regulatory readiness initiatives as well as international benchmarking efforts such as the conduct of the 2016 IOSCO Country Review of Sri Lanka.

Vajira’s previous industry exposure in investment analysis and asset management complements SEC development initiatives and enhances the effectiveness of stakeholder engagements undertaken by the SEC Secretariat.

Vajira holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Administration from the University of Reading, the UK, and a Master of Financial Economics from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He also holds the International Capital Markets qualification from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, UK.
