The third iteration of the annual AI Asia Summit, held virtually this year will address numerous emerging themes that would strike a fine balance between cutting edge research and applications across a broad range of industries, businesses and economy.
The AI Asia Summit will be a unique opportunity for Sri Lanka as well as the global community to delve into the unprecedented potential of how AI can be used to transform the future by connecting the Tech Community and the General Population, the influence on policy and decision makers to evolve beyond basic operating mechanisms and ability to elevate society to excellence.
The summit will feature eminent speakers on AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science from across the globe. We are inviting participants across the Asia Pacific region and across the globe!

The development of Intelligent Robotics Platforms requires the fusion of a number of engineering disciplines. A fully-automated or partially automated system would require electronic engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, firmware engineers, machine learning engineers and domain experts to collaborate and coordinate to build even a minimal viable product. Development of such systems is expensive, time consuming and risky. It is therefore important to develop these systems alongside a viable business case to ensure that that large investment can be justified. In this talk, I will walk you through how we approached this to build a company to address the global wildfire problem.

Science fiction has long predicted a world in which morality is arbitrated by machines [while largely failing to predict the smartphone.] Today we are continuously running into issues of ethics and technology. What is fact and what is fiction? The talk introduces what is AI Ethics from the viewpoint of computer science. We first see an overview of the research topics and the discuss how research can inform practice in building better (for every one) AI solutions.

Out of our five sensors, the sense of taste and smell (Flavor) are widely used in the food and beverage industries and dictates our preferences in what we consume. Flavor is determined by factors such as origin, how it's grown, processed and transported. The ability to effectively measure flavor characteristics of our produce would help immensely in improving the quality of what we consume.
However, digitization is challenging due to limitations in the existing technologies such as cost, time and accessibility. This talk introduces our approach to the digitization of taste and flavor characteristics of food and beverages to support the agriculture and food processing industries.

This session will cover existing gaps in awareness, capabilities and skills that will need to be addressed for broad adoption and benefit of AI. We will cover recent trends in AI (such as low code, democratization, APIs and cloud), that have enabled new options for awareness and skills building that were previously not possible. We will cover examples and experiences of awareness and capability building among K-12 students and examples of students progressively learning and practicing AI in a wide range of disciplines.

In this session, Prof. Emi will talk about the latest research on medical AI and medical big data analysis. We designed an early detection algorithm for atrial fibrillation (AF) from electrocardiogram (ECG) and identifying human biological rhythms using big data. Early detection of disease is important for human health. Medical AI is one of technology that
supports human healthy life.
